Vale Sudbury, Hard Rock

  • Won the contract at a premium above the lowest bid.

  • Many changes due to geotechnical conditions and still completed on time and on budget.

  • Met and surpassed clients safety expectations

Deep Foundations successfully installed rock socket caissons and micropiles for the new Secondary Baghouse and Fan buildings located at Vale’s Copper Cliff Smelter, which will be used to remove particulate from the captured gases during the smelting process. The new process will replace the tallest smoke stack in North America.

The location for the new buildings was surrounded on all three sides by existing structures, so site planning and logistics were key. Deep worked around the clock,  24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help expedite the schedule.
